Hue Perfume River

Hue city is famous for its romance and charming beauty, and Perfume River is one of its outstanding. For tourists visited Hue once remarked after their trip is Perfume River, they said that: Your trip would no be completed if you did not have a boat excursion on the Perfume River, you can not feel the romance of Hue. The Perfume River (Vietnamese: Sông Hương or Hương Giang) crosses the capital city of Hue, the central Vietnamese province. Its length is around 80 kilometers, before coming Hue it go through many forests of aromatic plants before, so it creates the river’s purity and fresh aroma.

Two Tributaries of the Perfume River start from the Truong Son mountain range and then they integrate at the Bang Lang Fork.  The Ta Trach (Left Tributary) starts from the Truong Dong Mountain and through northwest to Bang Lang fork. Huu   Trach (Right Tributary) is shorter than Huu Trach River. It flows through the Tuan ferry, and then come to Bang Lang Fork.

Then the tributary going over the temples of Hon Chen and Ngoc Tran, and north-west, rambling through the Nguyet Bieu and Luong Quan plains. From this, the River then continuously flows into the north-east direction to Hue city, only an echo of Truong Son mountain, and passes the rest place of the Nguyen Emperors. The river of green water continues its itinerary, passing Hen Islet and various villages, crossing the Sinh junction, which is known as the capital of ancient Chau Hoa, before emptying into the Tam Giang Lagoon.

From Bang Lang to Thuan An estuary, the Huong River’s 30km length and flows slowly as the level of the river is not high as above sea level.

Many artists, poets and composers compose their masterpieces due to romantic of Huong river, their inspiration deriver from the Perfume River. A typical example is  one of the famous songs “ Who come to Hue”  written by Duy Khanh

In the autumn, the river becomes more beautiful and charming when flowers from plantations fall into the water. Artists’ inspiration is derived from the Huong’s water, its landscape and even the bridge over the river.  Today, tourists travel to Hue could not miss a chance to boat along the river. Most of them ensure that Huong River is one of the most beautiful and extremely romantic river landscapes that they have ever come. Especially, it becomes more beautiful at night when the lights are on.

Along the river, you can visit a series of beauty-spots such as Da Vien, Phu Xuan, and Truong Tien Bridges, in addition to the Tomb of Minh Mang, Hon Chen Shrine, Thien Mu pagoda is another sites you can not miss them. Finally you can bathe in the sea. Upstream, at the Tomb of Thien Tho, you can hear the rustling of the pine tree, which may help you become a… poet!
