Transportation In Ho Chi Minh City


Tan Son Nhat airport is the top airport in the country. You can travel to Ho Chi Minh City and from Ho Chi Minh City to other such big cities as Hanoi, Danang, etc. by air. The airport is 7km far away from the city center.

There are currently two airlines operating domestically in Tan Son Nhat airport: Vietnam Airlines and Jet Star Pacific. (For domestic route, you can refer here) but the dominant one is Vietnam Airlines.

From the airport, you can transfer to the city center by taxi or motorbike taxi if you are traveling without much baggage.

Mien Dong and Mien Tay are two main bus stations in Sai Gon, Mien Dong terminal has the buses departing to Da Lat, Hue, Danang and Hanoi. The Mien Tay terminal has the buses departing to the Mekong Delta, My Tho, Can Tho, Ca Mau, and Long Xuyen.  Another bus terminal at Cho Lon connects Saigon to Long An, Ben Luc, My Thuan and My Tho.

To book a bus you must book personally, it is not possible to book over the phone.


It is very interesting to have a full day trip boat to visit Sai Gon as Sai Gon is very famous for the best sightseeing namely Mekong delta. Tourists should not miss the chance to visit it and enjoy the sight when coming to Sai Gon.


It is a good ideal to have a travel by train; you will feel that it is very convenient, safe and reasonable in terms of price. The train journeys become an integral part of visits to Vietnam. If you travel by train, you can save time and money because the train leaves Hanoi in the evening you arrive in Hue next morning.  You can have a sleep in the train, it helps you save hotel bill.

In the early 1930s the Saigon Railway Station was constructed by French, it is located in District 3 of the city. The station connects Hanoi and Saigon. You can book train tickets at the station or book from travel agents in advance. It will take 30 hours to travel from Sai Gon to Hanoi and 17 hours from Sai Gon to Da nang.


Travelling by taxi is also one of the ideal ways to see Saigon. Nowadays, you can hire a taxi easily with the best service. It will very pity if you miss the chance to travel Saigon by cyclo. You can really explore the beauty of the city. The cyclo is unique in Vietnam, so many tourists like traveling by it. They said that it is one of the best ways to feel the beauty of the city. To meet the demand of the tourists, most of the cyclo drivers can say English. Do note that you should bargain before having a travel.

Xe Om/Honda Om

Xe om is one of the most popular vehicles in Vietnam. You can find Xe Om at most of the street corners. Due to the roads and streets system in Ho Chi Minh City characterized as narrow and crowded.
